Burton Bradstock is located at the westerly end of Chesil Beach. Snuggled deep into the stunning Bride valley the charming village centre is still unspoiled today with pretty thatched cottages dating from the 16th century. During Saxon times the village was known as Brideton meaning the village of the River Bride. This was then advanced to Bridetona and was recorded in the Doomsday Book under this name. Bradstock originated from Bradenstoke after Bradenstoke Priory in Wiltshire, the town in which the village once belonged. The current name seems to be a mixture of the two. This village has become a popular place for visitors to West Dorset and is home of the reknowned Hive Beach Cafe.
